HOPE Now Expands HOPE LoanPort™

The HOPE NOW Alliance announced that it is expanding HOPE LoanPort™, its housing counselor Web portal, to 25 states and over 100 cities to help at-risk homeowners avoid foreclosure. The portal allows Housing and Urban Development (HUD) -approved counselors to submit completed Home Affordable Modification (HAMP) applications directly to a homeowner’s servicer, track the status and provide borrowers with more timely decisions.

Five NeighborWorks Organizations will participate in the expansion: Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services, Community HousingWorks in San Diego, The Housing Partnership, Inc., in Louisville, Neighborhood Housing Services of Baltimore and St. Mary Development Corporation in Dayton. Home Free USA and Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) of Atlanta and Dallas will also participate in helping homeowners through the HOPE LoanPort™.

The program began in December 2009 with several servicers and housing counseling agencies affiliated with NeighborWorks America and Home Free USA. According to HOPE Now, housing counselors and servicers involved in the pilot have provided positive feedback on the portal, including that it eases the document traffic jam that has plagued the system. This means that decisions can be made faster and struggling homeowners can get the help they need sooner.

If loan modification/homeowners help is a SIGNED LAW OF THE LAND.

Jay, we're sorry to hear about your situation. You did the right thing by reaching out to your bank, but have you tried using a housing counseling agency to work on your behalf? You can go to http://www.findaforeclosurecounselor.org to find a HUD-approved counseling agency near you in Texas. The counselors are trained to deal with servicers (banks) and can probably get your case to the right people. You don't have to go it alone. Let a professional help you and this help is free. You can also call the HOPE Hotline at 1-888-995-HOPE or visit www.hopenow.com to get the same type of help.

Jay, if you are still in need of assistance please e-mail the Texas Foreclosure Prevention Task Force at texasforeclosurehelp@gmail.com

We will connect you and your HUD-approved housing counselor if you have one, with a GMAC representative here in Texas who will assist you.

Don't mean to take anyone's time, but like Jay, and probably countless others, I am at the end of my rope, and wanted to say something to somebody.

Lost my well-paying, out-of-state job over 14 months ago, fell behind in mortgage payments (among others). Have cooperated with Wells Fargo(WFHM) the past 12 months in addressing the issue. I received a few re-assuring courtesy calls that I "will not lose the house".

In October, 2009, I was approved for a loan modification and I was in heaven for a while. WFHM took one payment, then reversed the decision. I have not found the real reason yet, though it was implied that "investors" make the final call. But I don't know how to reach investors. And I would have been able to make the payments, even now. In the interim, I have tried to gather sufficient funds, but keep faling short of the needed catch-up amount.

Called WFHM last week again. Sent WFHM a financial statement/income/expense paperwork this week. But iI fear the outcome will be the same as it was in October...or worse.

I am still unemployed, drawing unemployment.

Bought the house in Chicago in 1986and at the beginning of 2009, owed about $28,000. At a 10.375% interest rate, the balance is about $40K now (not including potential attorney fees, etc). Also received a summons yesterday.

Thank you for listening, just needed to vent.
